I stumbled on this music video as I bounced around the work of an animator I love Lawrence Becker, and was OVERJOYED to see someone else I have obsessed about for most of my life: Steve Martin. As I listened to the familiar plucky twang of Martin’s banjo and the talents of the band he’s toured with for many years the Steep Canyon Rangers, I felt the deepest joy to have these two things – animation and steve martin – joining in the same sentence on my screen. It’s a funny song, with a literal and funny accompanying music video shot against greenscreen in two cities, starring two of the funniest actors out there right now Bill Hader and Cecily Strong.
