Catch Me If You Can

Kuntzel + Deygas give the iconic handmade design style of saul bass a digital boost and use purposeful line animation that bleeds into crisp type, stampbook silhouetted characters, and a jazzy, mysterious John Williams score to lead the viewer into a 60s atmosphere and establish the story before the film has begun. The directing pair took 4 months to create the opening, and decided to preserve the vintage title look for Stephen Spielbergs 2002 film by using actual hand cut stamps, and organic tools such as paper, ink, and classical frame by frame animation, supplemented with CG and composited digitally.
