Danny and Annie

Storycorps was founded in 2003 by Dave Isay with a beautiful mission: to preserve and share humanity’s stories in order to build connections between people and create a more just and compassionate world.

It has given more than 450,000 people the chance to record interviews about their lives. The organization preserves the recordings in its archive at the Library of Congress, the largest single collection of human voices ever gathered, and shares select stories with the public through StoryCorps’ weekly podcast, NPR broadcasts, animated shorts, digital platforms, and best-selling books. Dannie and Annie is one such story, incredibly touching as are so many of the stories they share, one that I suspect because of its beautiful and aspirational message has endured. It was Directed by Mike and Tom Rauch aka the Rauch Brothers, and I warn you you’d probably have to watch it sound off to get through any viewing without crying. This is a lovely entry about the story’s aftermath.
