If Giacometti had a baby with one of the Octonauts, I think it would look like the strange pied piper “caretaker” character in this award winning music video for Gotye’s “Heart’s a Mess.” Luckily for me, I like Gotye’s music as much as a love his music videos which means I can watch them endlessly. This one, like “Somebody That I Used to Know” bypasses some of the constraints of traditional live action film production, and take us literally.. to the moon. And similar to “Somebody That I Used to Know” I have no idea what correlates the lyrics to what I’m seeing on screen, and I really don’t care. The music video was conceptualized by singer “Wally” De Backer (aka: Gotye) and Australian Director / Animator Brendan Cook, and utilizes 3d animation with photographic backgrounds.
