Old Man and the Sea

If you’re talking about animation and you don’t know the name Aleksandr (Alexander) Petrov….you’re going to look like an asshole. He has famously brought painting on glass into the spotlight not only as an animation technique but also as an art form. This video is an adaptation of Ernest Hemingway’s short novel “The Old Man and the Sea.” It took two and a half years for Petrov to paint this film’s 29,000 frames, using brushes, and interestingly.. his fingers as brushes.
