Coldplay “Strawberry swing”

I can (and have) watch this over and over and over. This 2009 stop motion music video was directed by Shynola, which is the collective name of a group of three London-based visual artists: Chris Harding, Richard Kenworthy and Jason Groves. The song manages to makes the story seem almost dignified, reflective: lead singer Chris Martin is a superhero who rescues a woman being held hostage by a giant squirrel. I love the thoughtful details and camera angles – Martin doing a handstand to bullet through the clouds, the flashlight, the beautiful explosion at the end and his interaction with the princess… Shynola when interviewed seems humble to the point of caginess when it comes to talking about timelines and the work that went into this but i can gather it was a three month process from pitch to completion and they filmed Chris Martin on the floor for about a week. It was entirely handdrawn in chalk with a grid and playback monitor to guide them. Amazing feat and tremendously rewatchable!
