Mosomos is the Brooklyn-based brainchild of the very talented filmmaker Matthew Amonson, a Motion Control Operator, Director, Producer, DP, Animator, and all around creator of fun, tactile things. I’ve got such a soft spot or companies/talent aggregations that narrow down what they love to do, and what they do well and aren’t afraid to commit to a niche. Mosomos focuses on stop motion and in-camera, practical effects… they’re kind of the opposite of “we’ll fix it in post” and what they do well is both time and labor intensive. There’s something almost meditative in this ponderous pre-production heavy world of stop motion that holds great appeal to me, and i love finding specialists in this niche, who protect a shrinking but relevant place in an industry incessantly pushing for ways to work faster.
